Lower Polish gate
Fortified northern entrance was the main gate from the side of Podillia
The Polish Gate is located to the west of the city and was built in the first half of the 16th century. Just like the Russian gate, the Polish gate contained locks as well. They regulated the water levels in the river Smotrych. As the inhabitants of the city could fill the canyon with water within hours, the enemies were unable to attack the city during those times.
